Supporter & Voluntary Contribution Policy
Last updated: September 2026.
1. Nature of Financial Support
OrthoMonk is an artistic and technical simulation game project developed by Alexandru Macavei as an individual creator. When you send funds through our Ko-fi page (processed securely by Stripe for card payments or by PayPal for payments made through PayPal):
- You are making a voluntary financial gift to help offset development time, software licenses, server infrastructure, and asset production.
- You are not purchasing goods, pre-ordering a video game, or buying financial equity/shares in the game.
- No goods, game activation keys, physical merchandise, or software downloads are guaranteed in return for this contribution.
- Memberships, recurring subscription obligations, and tiered perks are intentionally not offered.
2. Entity & Non-Charity Clarification
Although the subject matter of OrthoMonk depicts Eastern Orthodox monastic tradition, architecture, and liturgical rhythm:
- This website and the game are independent creative software projects operated by an individual.
- Contributions are voluntary gifts to support the project. They are not donations to a registered charity, non-profit, or ecclesiastical body, and no charitable-donation receipt or tax benefit is provided.
- Your contribution does not create a membership, subscription, or ownership interest.
3. Payment Processing & Billing Statement
All transactions are processed by third-party payment gateways:
- Gateway: Ko-fi, which may route payments through Stripe (card payments) or PayPal (payments made through PayPal).
- Public Currency: Euro (€ / EUR).
- Billing Statement Descriptor: may vary depending on the payment method and provider. It can appear as
ORTHOMONKor another descriptor used by Ko-fi, Stripe, or PayPal. Check your Ko-fi receipt or payment-provider statement for the exact descriptor. - All sensitive payment credential processing is handled entirely by Stripe, PayPal, or Ko-fi; this website neither sees nor stores any payment card numbers or PayPal credentials.
4. Refund Policy
Because contributions are voluntary gifts immediately directed to ongoing development expenses:
- General Rule: Contributions are considered final and non-refundable once processed.
- Mistaken or Unauthorized Transactions: If you made an accidental duplicate contribution, an erroneous amount, or suspect fraudulent use of your card or PayPal account, please use the private contact form within 14 days and select “Support or payment”. We will review the inquiry in good faith and execute a refund via Stripe or PayPal where appropriate.
5. Project Milestones & Development Timeline
Game development is inherently iterative. OrthoMonk is in early development. While the developer is deeply committed to crafting an authentic and contemplative experience:
- No release date is guaranteed.
- Project specifications, art assets, and supported platforms may evolve as technical requirements dictate.
- Failure to release on a particular platform or date does not entitle contributors to retroactive compensation.
